Present Use:
The truss bridges are considered unsafe and are currently closed forpedestrian and vehicular traffic. The bridges have been closed since1998. The bridges are scheduled for reconstruction afterSeptember 30, 1999.
Significance:
These truss bridges were determined eligible, by the Illinois HistoricPreservation Agency, for listing on the National Register ofHistoric Places under Criterion C of the National Register Criteriafor Evaluation as found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title36, part 60. Criterion C refers to properties, That embody thedistinctive characteristics of a type, period or method ofconstruction.... The Forest Home Cemetery Truss Bridges are agood example of a truss design.

6. Alterations and Additions:These alterations and additions were extrapolated from the Forest Home Cemetery IntermentBooks, Volumes 1 through 3. This chronology in conjunction with the historic photographs andactual field survey substantiate that the bridges are not twins. Indeed these are two separatebridges, constructed at different times and of different materials. For the purpose of thisdocumentation the 1895, north, Massillon Bridge is CK-1999-4-A and the 1908, south, Carnegie,Illinois I-beam bridge is CK-1999-4-B.
